Narcisse Taiji by Atelier Materi – The Harmony of Light and Shadow in Wild Narcissus
Inspired by the concept of Taiji—the harmony of opposing forces, much like Yin and Yang—Narcisse Taiji by Atelier Materi celebrates a rare and precious ingredient: wild narcissus harvested in the mountains of Auvergne, France. Perfumer Marie Salamagne masterfully captures the flower’s dual nature, revealing both its innocent floral radiance and its darker, animalic, leathery depth.
The composition opens with a luminous and sparkling contrast: juicy pear and vibrant ginger brighten the introduction, while tuberose hints at the opulent floral heart to come. At the center of the fragrance lies the precious absolute of wild narcissus, whose velvety petals intertwine with dewy green nuances and delicate balsamic undertones.
The dry down takes an unexpected turn toward shadow. Dark earthy patchouli, Réunion vetiver, and subtle soft leather accords lend the narcissus a refined woody structure and remarkable elegance, leaving behind a powerful yet understated trail that lingers beautifully on the skin.
